Our Campus
Orama Academy is based on Great Barrier Island, and tucked into the stunning surrounds of Karaka Bay. Surrounded by native bush and coastline, the campus is designed to allow you to unplug from everyday life and find rest, reflection, and connection with God. With a dedicated chapel, quiet outdoor spaces, and recreational areas, it’s a place where you can slow down and lean into spiritual growth. The campus includes shared kitchen facilities, study rooms, lounge areas, and reliable high-speed internet throughout.
Lecture Rooms
Our teaching spaces are fully equipped for an interactive and focused learning experience. Lecture rooms feature high-speed internet, AV equipment, and video conferencing tools that allow us to connect with external guest speakers and teaching faculty from around New Zealand and beyond. It’s a space that supports both learning and community.
Site Accommodation
Orama Academy students are housed in simple but comfortable rooms, each with a bed, bedding, and storage space. Shared bathroom facilities and communal areas are just a short walk away. It’s a peaceful, practical setup that allows you to focus on your journey while feeling settled and supported.
Kitchen & Catering
Students are well-fed with onsite catering that provides nourishing, home-style meals throughout the programme. For those who like a bit of flexibility, shared kitchen facilities are also available, so you’re welcome to prepare your own meals or snacks as needed. Whether you’re enjoying meals communally or cooking up your own favourites, you’ll feel at home.
Common Areas
There are plenty of shared spaces across the campus to unwind, connect, or focus on study. From cosy lounge areas and study rooms to a games corner and music gear for a casual jam session, the common areas are places where community life thrives. Whether you’re deep in conversation or taking a breather, there’s always somewhere comfortable to spend time.
Activities
Life at Orama isn’t just about the classroom students have access to a wide range of outdoor activities and experiences including weekend optional electives. From kayaking and paddleboarding in the bay, to hiking, fishing, surfing, sailing, or even camping in the bush, Great Barrier Island provides a great adventure playground. These experiences help balance the pace of the programme and allow you to enjoy the natural beauty of the island.
